The hassle-free alternative to the conventional bob, the 'Lob' is sweeping Hollywood.
Whether you're after a new look or you've just not had time to chop your bob, the 'Lob', as seen on Kate Bosworth and Olivia Palermo, is an easy hairstyle to nail. Hair trends often begin behind the scenes of catwalk shows, and the long bob is no different.
Fresh from styling hair at the Margaret Howell, Mark Fast and Burberry shows this London Fashion Week, the celebrity and catwalk hair stylist Neil Moodie tells us why the style is so popular. "The long bob is a great way of having a bob without committing to having your hair too short. There's something so chic about hair that's completely all one length without any layers, which in turn means light reflects much better so the hair looks ultra-glossy."

The long bob is also hassle-free. Unlike a conventional box bob which loses its shape once it grows out, this will keep looking great even if its two or three inches longer. And, even better, it suits most face shapes. If your face is round it helps to elongate your shape and it also looks flattering on an oval face. You can work it if you've got a long, slim face, but Neil suggests slightly curving the ends inwards with a hair straightener so the length doesn't make your face look even longer.
And finally, the long bob has longevity. The next big hair trend to filter down from the catwalks is ponytailing - Neil was tying up all the model's hair in sharp and severe ponytails, which can be easily done with a long bob…but not so easy with a box bob.
