CMA was started by Clayton McLellan in 1994 under the name “C.McLellan & Associates”. The original business plan was to offer professional hydraulic engineering services to companies not in a position to employ their own in-house specialist engineers. The core members of CMA are professional engineers with many years experience working in heavy industry…

Within a few years CMA developed capabilites in the design and manufacture of electronic control systems to work with servo and proportional valve based hydraulic systems. During 1997 and 1998 we undertook two very large projects that provided us with the opportunity to develop a mechanical design component of the business as well. The combination of offering both traditional mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines has allowed us to confidently complete high complexity projects that require careful interaction between closed loop control electronics, and the hydraulic and mechanical equipment being controlled.

During the late 90s in response to demand from our customers for ongoing service of hydraulic equipment, we developed a test and repair facility for hydraulic proportional and servo valves. We now successfully repair hundreds of valves every year, of all different brands and operating principles.

In 2002 a market need was recognised for a test and repair service for process and cryogenic valves, run on similar professional lines to our hydraulic valve business. Following significant investment and effort to design and build a range of facilities, we are able to test, repair and clean cryogenic process valves to the highest standards as required by some of our customers. We also repair process gas and steam valves and test and certify safety relief valves.

In 2003 CMA was approached by Bosch-Rexroth Australia, offering a distribution agreement for all of their hydraulic, pneumatic, and linear motion product ranges. This direct access to Bosch-Rexroth’s excellent range of products has further enhanced CMA’s ability to offer a complete engineering solution to our clients.

In 2011 CMA became an authorised Young & Franklin Inc. Repair and Overhaul Shop. We have undergone extensive training at Y&F’s facility in Syracuse, New York and are the only company in Australia and New Zealand certified by Y&F to test and repair the Y&F product.

In May 2012 CMA became the Australian distributor for Delta Motion Controllers.

In June 2012 CMA became the exclusive  reseller – distributor of Young and Franklin control valves for Gas Turbines in addition to being the only OEM approved repair facility.

In 2013 CMA became the Australian distributor and repair facility for Star Servo Valves. Star manufacture a complete range of mechanical and electrical feedback servo valves for a wide range of applications and industries, and are used around the globe..

CMA also set up a Perth Facility to service the growing WA business in LNG, Power Generation and Iron Ore Mines

In 2014 CMA merged with another hydraulic company Cram Fluid Power that grew the size of the workforce to over 100 people and brought us facilities in Mackay, Tomago ( Newcastle) Singleton and Unanderra.
