A traditional Territory event, with the majority of the competitors being local stock staff from the surrounding cattle stations.

The Rodeo is held on Friday night, under lights and is action packed.  Events include bull rides, buckjump, calf scruffing, poddy rides and more.

GYMKHANA

Fun filled horse sports for horse and rider of all ages.  Children and adults compete in age divisions at traditional and non-traditional gymkhana events- flags, bending, barrels and many more.

BATTLE OF THE BARKLY

The Battle of the Barkly is an iron man style event, with competitors running in heats over several days before the Final on Saturday.  Heaps of action and humour with all the Finalists being auctioned off before the running of the Final. 

  

Competitors battle to beat each other in station hand type activities, from swag rolling, hay bale rollings, picket hitting, tyre lifting, beer skulling, just to name a few.

  A hilarious event to watch, or if you are feeling really game, have a go yourself!

Station Teams Challenge

Nomination: Free

Teams are to consist of four (4) staff members from stations in the Tennant Creek DBIRD area.  Each team must have two (2) bona fide Jackaroo/Jillaroo staff members who have less than three (3) years experience.  Each team can nominate up to six (6) horses from their station which will be competing over the event. 

 A prize of a gift certificate for a Kent Saddle is awarded to the individual staff member who obtains the highest points overall in the competition.
